In 2020, sport has shown its resilience, especially at the community level where the power of sport to influence and connect people has never been more important.
We celebrate the role sport has played in communities across Western Australia and acknowledge those that have been able to achieve at a high level through a challenging year.
The year has presented unprecedented challenges to communities across Western Australia, across the country and around the world. Sport has also been impacted by the spread of COVID-19 with sport at various levels impacted by the global pandemic resulting in a number of events being cancelled or postponed, headlined by the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
With consideration for the impacts of 2020 and the role of sport in communities across WA, the community awards, through the RAC SportWest Awards will stand in their true form, with finalists and winners to be announced.
In the performance categories, the impact of COVID-19 has had a significant impact. It means there won’t be winners awarded in 2020, but we do look forward to acknowledging the outstanding years of nominees put forward by our members through the RAC SportWest Awards nominations.
Nomination are now open and will be accepted until Thursday 26 November 2020. Before lodging a nomination, members should read the nomination guide, then visit the nominations page to celebrate your achievers and the contributors to sport in your community.
